Media: Taiwan and the USA to hold the first round of economic dialogue on 20 November

The launch of the new dialogue mechanism was announced on 31 August.

Taiwan and the US will hold the first meeting as part of the new bilateral economic dialogue mechanism on 20 November. The event will be held face-to-face in Washington, D.C., as well as via videoconference, the Taipei Times reported on Thursday, citing the island administration.

The Taiwanese delegation to the US negotiations will be headed by Deputy Economic Secretary Chen Zhengzi. On the American side, the meeting will be co-chaired by Deputy State Department Head Kate Krach. In particular, the discussion will focus on supply chains, cooperation in the development of fifth generation (5G) networks, technology projects, investments and energy.

The launch of the new dialogue mechanism was announced on 31 August. On the same day, Taiwanese authorities announced that they had agreed to lift import restrictions on American meat with the hormonal supplement ractopamine (a growth stimulant).
