Russian parliamentarian Alexei Pushkov commented on the results of the US elections and further prospects for the development of the situation in the country.
“Trump, however, is right when he emphasizes that more Americans have supported him than any other US president running for the second term. Despite four years of frenzied propaganda against him, 71 million Americans voted for Trump. And these, he said, are “legitimate votes” – in contrast to the hundreds of thousands of votes for Biden, which raise big questions. Trump voters are now frustrated, depressed, resentful and feeling cheated, but they have not disappeared. And no matter how much Biden promises to be president of all Americans, including those who voted for Trump, they will not accept him or his victory. It is highly doubtful that Biden will be able to reconcile these two Americas: the one for Trump and the one for him. These two Americas have different ideas about the country’s present and future – and different “souls”, – he wrote.
