Russian economist spoke about Western attacks on the Russian-Belarusian project of BelNPP

According to the expert, by actively opposing the entry of the BelNPP to the international market, in particular to the EU, Lithuania primarily makes itself worse by depriving itself of a source of cheap electricity.

In an interview with Ukraina.ru, Aleksey Zubets, Director of the Institute for Socio-Economic Research of the Financial Institute under the Government of the Russian Federation, said that just two days ago, on November 7, a solemn ceremony took place to connect the first power unit of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant (BelNPP) to the unified energy system of Belarus.

Lithuanian neighbors staged an indicative hysteria on this matter, even for the sake of greater effect, continued to whip up an absurd panic among their own population, massively distributing free iodine-containing preparations.

But all this is nothing more than a performance, the sole purpose of which is to prevent Belarusian electricity from entering the European energy market. Europe itself would not mind becoming an energy exporter, but fantasies about “green energy” and cheap electricity, so necessary to maintain the competitiveness of the European economy, do not get along.

“Therefore, the European Union is interested in the EU countries not buying cheap energy, because it kills alternative energy. This is related to the policy of Lithuania when trying to ban the Belarusian nuclear power plant and refusal to purchase this energy. This is a manifestation of lobbying by very serious financial and industrial groups that stand behind alternative energy”, – the expert said.
