Joe Biden, a 77-year-old Democrat, may become the next President of the USA. He currently has 290 votes out of the required 270. Although Donald Trump intends to seek a review of the votes, some politicians have already commented on the results.
“On behalf of the Government of Canada, I congratulate Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on their election as the next President and Vice President of the United States. Canada and the United States have an unusual relationship that is unique on the world stage”, – said Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
He expressed confidence that with the Biden administration “the world’s greatest challenges” would be resolved.
“Congratulations to Joe Biden on his election as President of the United States and to Kamala Harris on her historic achievement. The US is our most important ally and I look forward to working together in our priority areas of climate change, trade and security”, – said British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel congratulated Biden, wished him success and expressed her willingness to work together.
“I am looking forward to future cooperation with President Biden”, – she said.
“We look forward to working with the next US administration. We want to invest in our cooperation for the transatlantic restart and the new course”, – said German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in turn, emphasised that Biden was a “true friend of Greece”.
“I am sure that under his chairmanship relations between our countries will become even stronger”, – the politician said.
