According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India, the eighth round of meetings at the level of commanders of the Indian and Chinese corps took place in Chushula on November 6.
According to TASS, in a statement issued on Sunday by the Indian Foreign Ministry following a meeting on November 6 between the two countries’ commanders at the border post in Chushula on the Indian side of the line of de facto control, which is shared by these countries, it is reported that representatives of the Indian and Chinese Army have agreed to exercise restraint at the border and to continue dialogue on contentious issues.
“On 6 November, the 8th round of India-China corps commanders’ meeting was held in Chushula. The two sides had a frank, in-depth and constructive exchange of views on the issue of the withdrawal of troops along the line of de facto control in the western sector of the India-China border”, – the agency’s official website said. “Both sides agreed to implement in good faith the important agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries, to ensure that their forward units show restraint and avoid misunderstandings and miscalculations.
The Indian Foreign Ministry also pointed out that India and China have agreed to maintain military and diplomatic contacts in order to seek resolution of outstanding issues and to maintain peace and tranquillity in the border areas. The sides also agreed to hold the next round of talks as soon as possible.
