The current head of the White House believes that the American people “deserve full transparency in counting the votes”.
The current US President, Donald Trump, said on Friday that he intends to continue to ensure that “illegal ballots” are not counted in elections.
“We believe that the American people deserve full transparency in counting votes and approving [the results] of elections, and we are no longer talking about individual elections. We are talking about the purity of our entire election process”, – said the Republican in a statement issued by his campaign headquarters.
“From the very beginning we said that legal ballots should be counted and all illegal ballots should not be counted, but at every step we encounter resistance to this fundamental principle from democrats. We will continue this process through all aspects of the law to ensure that the American people have confidence in our government. I will never stop fighting for you and our country”, – Trump added.
General elections were held in the US on Tuesday. They elected the president and vice president, all 435 members of the House of Representatives and one third of the US Senate, and governors of 13 states and territories. The winner of the presidential race has not yet been determined.
Fox News and Associated Press (AR) forecast that Trump won 214 votes and Democrat Joseph Biden 264. To win, a candidate must receive at least 270 votes. CNN, as well as several other American media, estimate that Biden has so far received only 253 votes. This is due to the fact that Fox News and AR previously forecast that the Democrat candidate won in Arizona, where 11 votes are at stake. However, many other reputable media outlets believe that the results of the state vote are not yet so clear and there is no hurry to predict the victory of any candidate.
On Friday, Biden was able to move ahead with more than 1,000 votes in Georgia (16 electors), where Trump had a 5,000-plus vote margin as early as Thursday. In addition, the Democrat took the lead in Pennsylvania (20 electors).
