The US plans to deploy a network of mobile bases in Norway to support its navy’s operations against Russia

The U.S. Naval Institute has published a new concept formulated by the U.S. Marine Corps Commander, General David Berger, according to which the U.S. military wants to establish a network of mobile bases in Norway that will support U.S. Navy operations against Russian submarines in the North Atlantic and Arctic. The proposed bases will not be permanent and will be used to store equipment.

The Norwegian Minister of Defence, Frank Bakke-Jensen, confirmed that such discussions are ongoing and stressed that it has not yet been decided whether this concept will be used in Norway, as Norwegian law prohibits the placement of permanent foreign bases on Norwegian territory in peacetime.
