The Pentagon refuted the information about Esper’s resignation at its own will

The NBC material is incorrect and misleading in many ways, said US defence spokesman Jonathan Hoffman.

The US Secretary of Defence, Mark Esper, has no plans to leave his post and was not asked to resign. This was announced on Thursday by Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman, who denied relevant information from NBC television.

“The NBC material is wrong and misleading in many ways. Just to be clear: Defence Secretary Esper is not planning to resign and he has not been asked to resign”, –  he wrote on Twitter.

According to him, Esper will continue in his position, as well as the implementation of the national defense strategy prepared by the U.S. Presidential Administration, Donald Trump.

Earlier, NBC reported with reference to its sources that the head of the Pentagon has prepared a letter of resignation at will. The final decision on the resignation of the Minister of Defence remains with Trump, the TV company said. According to NBC, the intention of the head of the Pentagon is primarily due to the president’s plans to fire him after the general election, such plans Trump previously reported sources in the U.S. administration.
