In Germany, raids were carried out in connection with the terrorist attack in Vienna

It is noted that persons who have been searched are not suspects.

On Friday morning, German law enforcement officials searched four people who might have had a connection with the perpetrator of the Vienna terrorist act. This was reported on Twitter by the press service of the German Federal Office for Criminal Affairs.

The operation took place in residential and office premises in three federal states, in the cities of Kassel (Hessen), Osnabrück (Lower Saxony) and Pinneberg (Schleswig-Holstein). The erman Federal Office for Criminal Affairs emphasised that persons who have been searched are not suspected of committing a crime.

“The relevant search decisions were issued on 5 November on the basis of information that the Austrian justice authorities passed on to the German law enforcement agencies”, –  the agency said.

On Thursday, German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer said in a speech in the Bundestag that there are links between the Vienna attack and Germany, but did not specify which ones. His office explained that these were possible contacts among Islamists.

In Vienna, on 2 November, shots were fired at six locations, including near a synagogue. Four people were killed and 22 injured in the attack. The armed criminal was liquidated by the police, he was a supporter of the terrorist group “Islamic State”. The police are searching for possible accomplices to the attacker. The Austrian authorities called the incident a terrorist attack.
