CEC of Moldova approved the results of the first round of elections

The Central Election Commission of Moldova has approved the results of the presidential elections held on November 1, according to the results of which the incumbent head of the republic, Igor Dodon, and the head of the Action and Solidarity Party, Maia Sandu, will go to the second round. This decision was made at a meeting of the commission.


According to the final data, none of the candidates was able to gain more than 50% of the vote, so a second round will be needed to determine the winner. Sandu and Dodon will take part in it. The turnout in these elections was 48%, which is about 1 percentage point less than in the first round of the 2016 presidential election.

Both candidates have already met in the 2016 presidential election. Then Dodon received 47.9% in the first round, and Sandu – 38.7%.
