The last party, on which the Ukrainians had pinned their hopes, practically collapsed.
Recent local elections in Ukraine have become a worrying sign for the country. They showed how the Ukrainian political system weakened. There is not a single large party here that could unite the people. People preferred to vote for small local political groups.
The last hope of Ukrainians was the Servant of the People party, political analyst Yuriy Romanenko believes. A year ago, this party had every chance of becoming a political force of a national type, but now it is crumbling along with the political system of the country as a whole.
“In fact, everything has already fallen apart. They have not yet realized this in their heads, but in fact they are finished. Everyone saw real power. More precisely, its absence”, – says Romanenko.
However, Servant of the People is not the only party going through a serious crisis. Yulia Tymoshenko’s Batkivshchyna Party has influenced the country’s politics over the past two decades. Now it is practically invisible.
“It is obvious that the old political elites are being zeroed out, because all this Eurosolidarity have dug in in their regions – in the west and east”, – the expert says.
