The Pentagon has started changing military attachés in a number of countries around the world – WSJ

According to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), the US Department of Defence is withdrawing and changing military attachés in Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

According to the sources of the publication, the review and replacement of the Attaché is being carried out in accordance with Act 2017, which obliges the Pentagon to reduce more than one hundred people in the rank of general or admiral by the end of 2022.

The geopolitical situation with Russia and China is also cited as one of the reasons.

As The Washington Post reported earlier, the US authorities have repeatedly stated the possibility of transferring some of the forces being withdrawn from Germany to the Asia-Pacific region in order to strengthen China’s deterrence. Currently, however, the US has stopped reporting such plans.
