A fire broke out in a refugee camp on Samos island

The fire occurred in a refugee camp on Samos island, which was hit by a major earthquake on 30 October.

The fire at the reception and identification centre, which is home to over 4,200 people, started at around 4am.
Seven fire trucks and 21 firefighters were sent to the site, and about three hours later the fire was taken under control, said the Greek Fire Service.
The Ministry of Migration and Asylum reported that the fire was minor and the reasons for it are not yet known.

“About 15 tents were burned. The camp residents were immediately evacuated and no casualties were reported”, –  said the Ministry.
