The Heritage Foundation has published databases of fraud and forgery during federal and local elections in the USA from 1982 to 2020.
Many media outlets try to ignore the crimes and violations during the American elections, as well as their scale. This view was expressed by electoral reform expert Hans von Spakowski in an article posted on the website of the Washington-based The Heritage Foundation. The material is timed to coincide with the publication of a database of fraud and forgery cases during federal and local elections by the Foundation. The document describes cases from 1982 to 2020.
“Of course, not all fraud cases are so far-reaching. Many are associated with a small number of votes. However, it doesn’t happen as rarely as many people think”, – he said. – “The fraud is real, and given how many examples are collected in the fund’s database, it can change the results. Many media would like to pay attention to something else. Worse still, some people reject or try to justify it with a pre-approved, but not a suitable template ‘go ahead, there’s nothing to see'”, – the expert believes. In his opinion, the media “falsely claim that there are no gaps in the electoral process.”
Von Spakowski drew attention to several cases. For example, a certain Daisy Cabrera from Florida illegally took several absentee certificates and received money from candidates for the position of judge. At the time the scheme was discovered, she had a notebook with the names of 500 voters, most of them of Latin American descent. There were special notes in the notebook about those who had visual, hearing or Alzheimer’s problems. The expert paid special attention to the pressure on elderly and disabled people.
“It is important to remember that every voting fraud makes the vote of a legitimate voter invalid. <…> Americans deserve an electoral process that they can trust to protect their sacred right. Americans have the right to know when the integrity of the process is at stake”, – von Spakowski is convinced.
