Both detainees are suspected of having had contact with a man who attacked visitors to Notre Dame Basilica shortly before the crime.
According to DW, AFP reported that the French police have detained a second suspect in connection with an attack on the Church of Notre Dame in Nice, citing unnamed justice officials.
“A 35-year-old man was taken into custody who on the day of the crime allegedly had had contact with the attacker. The first probable accomplice, a man aged 47 years, was detained for several hours. The investigation suspects that he had also been in contact with the terrorist shortly before the attack”, – the report says.
On 29 October, a man with a knife broke into Notre Dame Basilica in Nice and attacked visitors. At least three people were killed and six others were injured. The intruder shouted out “Allahu Akbar!”. He received a gunshot wound and was taken to hospital when he was apprehended.
