An attempt was made to attack the computers of the Indian pharmaceutical company Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, which is starting tests of the Russian vaccine the Sputnik V against coronavirus. This is stated in the company’s report for two quarters of the current financial year.
“On October 22, 2020, we faced an information security incident and quarantined the affected IT services. This was a ransom attack. We promptly attracted leading external cybersecurity experts, began to contain and correct the situation, as well as investigate the incident”, – the agency quotes the text of the report.
It is noted that the investigation did not establish whether any data breaches in this incident relate to personal information stored in the company’s systems.
“All applications and data recovery is in full swing. All critical operations are under control”, – the company said.
The attempted hacker attack came less than a week after the General Comptroller of Medicines of India gave the company permission to conduct Phase II and III clinical trials of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine in India.
