President of the United States said that Amy Coney Barrett will take the oath of office on Monday to protect and defend the Constitution.
The Senate’s approval of Amy Coney Barrett, Judge of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, as a member of the Supreme Court, was a landmark day for America. This was announced by United States President Donald Trump on Monday before the White House swearing-in ceremony for 48-year-old Barrett.
“This is a significant day for America, for the United States Constitution and for the fair and impartial rule of law. <…> We must never lose confidence in our history, our heritage and our heroes”, – the President said.
He said that Barrett would take the oath of office on Monday to protect and defend the Constitution. The second, which will touch upon the judicial process, is scheduled for Tuesday in the Supreme Court itself.
“It is a great honour to be asked to serve your country in this position. I am grateful and honoured”, – said Barrett after being sworn in.
Barrett’s candidacy was supported by 52 Republicans and 48 Senators opposed, among whom there was only one representative of the Republican Party, Susan Collins (from Maine). The Conservatives are strengthening their position in the country’s Supreme Court. They are supported by six judges, the remaining three representing the Liberal Bloc.
Democrats are concerned that once approved, Barrett Trump will secure the necessary number of votes in the Supreme Court to cancel the Obamacare health insurance scheme adopted by the administration of former President Barack Obama. The current American leader has repeatedly criticized this programme and promised to abolish it and replace it with a cheaper one.
