Opponents of the restrictive measures imposed in Germany in connection with the coronavirus pandemic staged a protest in Berlin on Sunday 25 October. According to the police, around 2,000 people had gathered on Alexanderplatz square by the start of the demonstration.
As the participants did not observe the minimum distance and were not wearing protective masks, law enforcement agencies banned the event, but several hundred people ignored the call by the police to disperse and continued their movement along Karl-Marxalley. The demonstrators shouted out slogans “We are here, we are making noise because we are being deprived of our freedom” and “We are the people”, beating drums and humming whistles. There were also families with children and elderly people in the crowd.
