According to the President of the USA, journalists cover the coronavirus situation in the country excessively actively, paying much less attention to other events.
The head of the Washington administration, Donald Trump, on Saturday accused the liberal American media of trying to cover up the corrupt actions of his rival’s family in the upcoming presidential election of Democrat Joseph Biden.
Speaking to supporters in the state of Ohio, Trump reiterated that the media in the USA, in his opinion, was overreacting to the coronavirus in the country, paying far less attention to other events. According to the current head of state, the media are trying to “scare” the Americans in the run-up to the upcoming elections.
“[In] the news <…> only Kovid, Kovid, Kovid speak. <…> They are trying to scare everyone”, – Trump said. His performances were broadcast on American news TV channels.
“It’s all like they’re trying to hide all this corruption from the Biden family. <…> They refuse to write it,” continued the US President. At the same time, he added that he “pays tribute” to the New York Post for its publication of the electronic correspondence of Biden Hunter’s son. “They [the New York Post] are ready to expose all this corruption”, – said the American leader.
According to the correspondence, Biden’s son could have arranged for a representative of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings, of which he was a board member, to meet with his father when the latter was vice president of the USA. In one of his letters, the Burisma representative asked for Hunter’s advice on how to use his influence “on behalf of the company”. Trump, in light of the publication, accused Biden of lying and involvement in corruption in the Ukraine and China. For his part, Joseph Biden assured in a debate with Trump on Thursday that his son Hunter had “done nothing unethical” in contacts abroad.
Hunter Biden was a board member of Burisma from 2014 to 2019, and his father in 2016, while serving as Vice President of the USA, called for the dismissal of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin, who had begun an investigation into the activities of this Ukrainian company. Shokin was dismissed and the investigation into the Burisma case was suspended. In February 2020, the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine initiated a criminal case on Shokin’s statement that Joseph Biden allegedly interfered with his work.
