Kyrgyzstan starts new year with early presidential elections

Early presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan are scheduled for January 10, 2021.


This was reported on Saturday, October 24, by TASS, referring to the press secretary of the Central Election Commission of the republic Ruslan Izrekov.

“Early presidential elections are scheduled for January 10, 2021”, – the official said.

In accordance with the legislation, voting must take place no later than three months after the resignation of the head of state. Sooronbai Jeenbekov resigned on October 15 amid the political crisis in the country.

The riots were provoked by opposition forces that lost the parliamentary elections. They demanded that the election results be declared invalid and achieved their goal. As a result, the speaker of parliament and the prime minister resigned.

The legislative body was headed by Kanat Isaev. Sadyr Japarov received the post of prime minister. He’s become hundred acting president.
