This is the first such agreement for London since Brexit.
The UK and Japan signed a free trade agreement in Tokyo on Friday, the first such deal for London since Brexit, Interfax reports.
“It has been said over and over that an independent UK will not be able to negotiate independent trade agreements, or that it will take years. But today we proved that the skeptics were wrong”, – said UK Foreign Trade Secretary Liz Truss.
It noted that this agreement opens the way for Britain to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership with 11 countries, including Japan, Canada, Australia and Vietnam.
