The diplomats of Belarus and Moldova discussed the situation around the Moldovan presidential elections, which will be held on November 1.
Belarusian Ambassador to Chisinau Anatoly Kalinin and Moldovan Foreign Minister Oleg Tsulya exchanged views on the presidential race and discussed interaction between the two countries. The parties confirmed their readiness to strengthen relations.
As News Front previously reported, the Moldovan opposition is trying to implement the Belarusian scenario with non-recognition of the voting results. Presidential candidate and former prime minister Maia Sandu has already accused the authorities of rigging elections that have not yet taken place.
The opposition believes that the Moldovan diaspora in Russia, which supports the incumbent President Igor Dodon, will receive advantages through voting. In fact, only 17 polling stations will be opened in the Russian Federation, where a maximum of 85 thousand Moldovans will vote. This is almost 5 times less than in the EU countries.
