Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko spoke about Moscow’s position on Kosovo and relations with Belgrade
The diplomat stressed that the Russian Federation holds the same view: Kosovo is an integral part of Serbia.
“The Russian position on resolving the Kosovo issue is unchanged and is based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244. We pay special attention to the situation in which the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija is located within Serbia. A discussion on the future mutual recognition between Belgrade and Pristina can only “yield results if international law, the legitimate interests and concerns of Kosovo Serbs are respected. It is up to the parties themselves to come to an understanding and counterproductive attempt to create ‘partial normalization’ and to impose pre-prepared recipes and timelines”, – he said.
In addition, he stressed that the European Union, which has undertaken to mediate between Belgrade and Pristina, must implement them impartially and effectively.
