The U.S. presidential candidate and his son were accused of involvement in corruption after the publication of the e-mails
The son of U.S. presidential candidate Democrat Joseph Biden Hunter, through an attorney, asked for the return of his hard drive with his electronic correspondence, which was partially published in the New York Post earlier this month. This was stated by political consultant Stephen Bannon, formerly Assistant to US President Donald Trump, in an interview with Sky News Australia, which was broadcast on Sunday.
The emails indicated that Hunter Biden could have arranged for a representative of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings, of which he was a board member, to meet with his father at a time when the latter was the Vice President of the USA. Biden Sr., in this position, called for the dismissal of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General, Viktor Shokin, who had opened an investigation into Burisma. This gave the Republicans a reason to accuse Biden Sr. and his son of involvement in corruption.
“Hunter Biden’s lawyer contacted us by phone and email, he said he needed to pick up his hard drive,” said Trump’s ex-assistant. “This is not some kind of Russian intelligence operation. They admitted that this is their hard drive”, – Bannon added. According to him, Trump supporters are ready to publish data confirming this later.
The consultant explained that he was introduced to this hard drive about two months ago by Trump’s lawyer Rudolf Giuliani, who in turn received the device from the owner of a workshop and computer shop in Delaware. According to Bannon, he is a specialist in the activities of the Chinese authorities, and Giuliani involved him in the study of the data on the drive, as it allegedly relates in particular to the business relationship of the Biden family with China. “Biden’s campaign office does not challenge the authenticity of the letters,” Bannon said.
Bannon noted that one of the letters from lawyer Hunter Biden was received just before the New York Post was published. The consultant emphasised that the e-mails were not stolen from Biden’s son as a result of a hacker attack. “Why isn’t Biden’s headquarters suing the New York Post? Because if you file a retaliatory action everything will come out,” Bannon said.
According to the political consultant, the letters in question confirm that the Biden family had “close business ties” with China. Bannon, former US Vice President, reminded us that “for many years he categorically denied” such ties.
“He said that everything about Burisma is a lie, that he knows nothing about it,” the consultant explained. “It is now established that Joe Biden is a liar, – Bannon believes. The consultant noted that some people mentioned in the e-mails have already confirmed their authenticity.
