Germany spends up to 85 thousand euros on the treatment of a serious patient with COVID-19

On average, about 10.7 thousand euros are spent on the treatment of one patient with coronavirus in Germany.

The Welt am Sonntag newspaper wrote about it. It referred to data from health insurance companies AOK and Barmer.

And this is without taking into account severe cases. If the patient is transferred to a ventilator, then the cost of treatment increases.

“Our data show that patients with COVID-19, who must be connected to a ventilator, due to the partly severe course of the disease, on average, cause costs of 38.5 thousand euros”, – said Martin Leach, chairman of the board of the federal association AOK.

In addition, the difference in the cost of treating severe patients is more than tangible. In 10% of cases, expenses amounted to more than 85 thousand euros.

Barmer said that about 6.9 thousand euros are spent on one patient without mechanical ventilation, and 31.7 thousand euros with a device.

What is so special about German hospitals, if in Russia the treatment of one patient with coronavirus is several times cheaper, and the situation in the country is much better.
