The United Kingdom imposed sanctions against Prigozhin in connection with the situation in Libya

The Russian businessman said he did not have any business projects in Libya

The UK government has imposed sanctions on the Russian businessman Evgeny Prigozhin, accusing him of violating the ban on arms sales to Libya and sending mercenaries to the country. This was stated in a statement published on the website of the British Foreign Office.

“Sanctions have been imposed on Yevgeny Prigozhin, who is responsible for active mercenary activity in Libya and numerous violations of the UN arms embargo,” the document said. – We made it clear that any external interference in the [Libyan] crisis is unacceptable, and together with the international community we will continue working to hold accountable those who undermine the stability and security of Libya.

Prigozhin, in turn, said that he had no business projects in Libya.

Earlier Thursday the Russian businessman was also included in the EU black list. The EU Council decision states that he “supported the operation of PMC Wagner in Libya, which threatens peace, stability and security of the country.

Prigozhin is banned from entering the European Community and its financial assets in Europe are subject to freezing.
