FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov, First Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Administration Sergei Kirienko and four other high-ranking Russian officials are on the EU blacklist with regard to Russia, introduced in connection with the incident with Alexei Navalny. This was stated in a Council of the European Union regulation published in the Official Journal of the European Union on Thursday.
The sanctions list also includes the State Research Institute of Organic Chemistry and Technology (GosNIIOKhT), with which EU entrepreneurs are not allowed to have any relations.
“Personal restrictive measures have been introduced against Alexander Bortnikov, Director of the Federal Security Service, Sergei Kiriyenko, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, Andrey Yarin, Head of the Presidential Directorate for Internal Policy, Alexei Krivoruchko and Pavel Popov, Deputy Ministers of Defence, and Sergei Menyailo, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Siberian Federal District”, – the document says.
The restrictions imposed by the EU provide for a ban on entry into the territory of the European Union and the freezing of any financial assets in European banks.
