In New York City, the police were ordered to start preparing for riots that could occur before and immediately after the presidential election on 3 November. This was reported by the Washington Post.
The FBI is also working with the US Department of Justice to develop a plan of action in case of public disturbances on election day. I plan to place officials at the command centre to coordinate actions in case of disturbances and other election-related problems.
At the same time, a representative of the Federal Bureau of Investigation said that preparations for the elections and possible riots were still under way earlier in the year, but that the security issue is more acute this year due to the pandemic that has changed the nature of the upcoming vote and the riots that began in the USA at the end of May.
“Of course, our preparations for the 2020 elections take into account the current climate in the country. As always, the FBI is obliged to take many potential scenarios into account”, – the FBI reports.
