There are already half a million unemployed in Ukraine – the centre and west of the country suffer the most

Against the backdrop of the long-term crisis, which was exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic, at least 427,000 Ukrainians lost their jobs

 

According to the State Employment Centre, the number of unemployed people has increased by 59% in the first ten months of 2020 compared to the same period in 2019.

In total, since the beginning of quarantine 525 thousand Ukrainians have received the status of unemployed. Residents of the capital city, Kyiv, Lviv, Transcarpathia and Odesa regions suffer most from unemployment. Here the number of unemployed people has increased by an average of 2.3 times.
