According to the Russian Foreign Minister, it is the US pressure on Chisinau that is hindering the reconciliation process.
According to EADaily, in an interview with Radio Sputnik, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Transnistrian Settlement Mechanism does not work, as the US wants to create an abscess in the post-Soviet space from Moldova.
“The Americans are trying to crush everything under themselves and create another such boilout from Moldova in the post-Soviet space, to prevent the coalition that some time ago was formed between Ms Sandu and Dodon and his Party of Socialists, that it never took place in practice, and that the pro-Western forces won a clear victory,” – concluded Sergei Lavrov.
He also expressed regret that the generally accepted 5+2 mechanism of talks on the Transnistrian settlement (Chisinau and Tiraspol – conflicting sides, Russia, Ukraine and OSCE – mediators, USA and EU – observers) is not working today.
