The EU and the UK may extend the negotiations on Brexit

The prospects for a UK-EU trade agreement are still not clear and the parties are considering continuing negotiations even after the mid-October deadline.

This was reported by Reuters, citing its own sources.

Despite the fact that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson bravuraously declared his readiness to abandon the deal with the EU, the negotiations will continue to conclude the agreement by 1 January 2021. According to Reuters, EU leaders will officially say so at the summit on Thursday and Friday.

They will instruct Brussels’ negotiator Michel Barnier to propose to his London counterpart David Frost, who will inform Boris Johnson. Frost is expected to call the deal difficult but not impossible, the agency source said.
