Romania claims that it has not been asked to help find Plahotniuk

At the end of September, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova announced that ex-Democrat Vlad Plahotniuc had crossed the border between Turkey and Romania. Moreover, it was planned to locate and detain the fugitive politician, but this information was kept secret.

According to eNews, the Romanian Police General Inspectorate, in response to a request for information on the location of the fugitive Moldovan oligarch, stated that Plahotniuc was not the subject of any requests for assistance in the framework of international police cooperation between the National Bureau “Interpol” of the Romanian Police General Inspectorate and representatives of Moldova.

“The reaction of the Romanian police followed after journalists tried to find out whether the Chisinau authorities had sent any request to the Romanian police / Interpol National Office in August-September to identify, locate and extradite Vladimir Plahotniuc from Romania to Moldova,” point.md. writes with reference to jurnal.md.
