The author of the idea was an associate of the opposition contender for the post of head of the republic.
Presidential elections in Moldova will be held on November 1. The main battle will take place between the current head of state Igor Dodon and the former prime minister, leader of the pro-Western party “Action and Solidarity” Maya Sandu.
However, Andrei Nestase, a longtime comrade-in-arms of Sandu, who has twice failed, proposes to her to refuse to take part in the elections and spoke in his support. He motivated his idea by doing the same for the 2016 presidential elections.
“It would be very good if in this campaign, as in 2016, we supported each other, we had a single candidate, because in June 2019 we agreed that Mrs Sandu will support me, but there is still time until 15 October. Okay, we can do it later, but if I did it on 15 October and withdrew my candidacy by supporting Sanda, why wouldn’t she do the same this year,” said Nestase.
