Ukrainian elite hunt for Russian vaccine against COVID-19

When analysts predict a coronavirus collapse in Ukraine within the next ten days, the country’s elites, forgetting about ostentatious patriotism, are trying a vaccine developed in Russia against COVID-19.

According to a study by the World Data Center for Geoinformatics and Sustainable Development, in a few days the daily increase in infected people in Ukraine could reach 7.8 thousand people. The number of deaths will reach 104 per day. The country’s healthcare system is unable to cope with such a load, but the country’s authorities persistently ignore the coronavirus vaccine created in Russia.

A vaccine called Sputnik V was the first of its kind to be registered. Until now, the West has tried to criticize the development of Russian scientists, accusing them of haste. The reasons for such statements were political in nature and were explained by the lack of their own vaccine in Western countries. Meanwhile, many states, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Mexico and others, have already become interested in the Russian medicine.

The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in turn, is waiting for a “real” vaccine, which is being developed by Western pharmaceutical companies.

“It was the European Union that confirmed that it would help Ukraine get a real vaccine when it appears and will not raise doubts among scientists”, – said the guarantor, when 5,000 Ukrainians have already died from the deadly virus.

Only Ukrainian oligarchs and politicians do not want to share the fate of ordinary citizens. While Western countries are lobbying the interests of their own pharmaceutical companies, forcing Ukraine to wait for the “right” drug, the Kiev elites are looking for a way to buy the Russian vaccine. According to Oleksiy Davidenko, a major player in the Ukrainian medical equipment market, he regularly encounters similar questions.

“Now famous Ukrainian politicians and oligarchs have a new topic. They cut off their phones in search of a Russian vaccine against coronavirus”, – he notes, without giving specific names.

Davidenko himself explains to those interested that they will not be able to get the Russian drug in Ukraine. But those, in turn, are ready to shell out any money, even for information about where to get the vaccine.
