Lithuania recalled six more diplomats from Belarus

Lithuania withdrew from Belarus six diplomatic officers who worked in Minsk and Grodno. This was announced by the press representative of the head of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry Rasa Jakilaitene.

“The Belarusian side did not respond to our compromise proposals and continued to demand ultimately to reduce the number of diplomats”, – she said.

“We are forced to recall six people from Minsk and Grodno so that they would not be declared undesirable persons, which would complicate the work in the future”.

According to her, Minsk bears responsibility for the consequences of actions to curtail interstate contacts.

Last week Lithuania recalled its ambassador to Minsk and five diplomats for consultations.
