The foreign ministers of the European Union countries agreed on the introduction of sanctions against the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. This is stated in a document published on the website of the EU Council.
Brussels threatened with “restrictive measures against organizations and high-ranking officials” of the republic if the situation in it does not improve.
“The Council strongly condemns the violence used by the Belarusian authorities against peaceful demonstrators and calls for the release of all arbitrarily detained persons, including political prisoners”, – the statement said.
