Right now, Turkey is transferring militants who fought in Syria to Azerbaijan, considering a full-scale invasion.
As News Front previously reported, another round of tension between Armenia and Azerbaijan occurred at the end of September. The countries exchanged accusations of a violation of the silence regime and began mobilizing troops. Nagorno-Karabakh is now under regular bombardment.
Western countries have already joined Russia’s position, which calls on the parties to the conflict to sit down at the negotiating table, but Turkey is provoking an escalation of tension. In pursuit of his own interests, Recep Tayyip Erdogan intervened in the conflict and now Ankara is sending Syrian militants to Azerbaijan.
In addition, according to Turkish Parliament Speaker Mustafa Sentop, lawmakers can vote to send an army to the conflict zone. At the moment there is no such need, the politician said in a comment for RIA Novosti, but the situation may change.
“I don’t think such a proposal will be necessary until third parties are involved in this conflict, ignoring UN resolutions”, – Schentop assured.
He did not specify what ‘third parties’ are referring to, but we can assume that this is Russia. It is linked to Armenia by its obligations within the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, which means it can reasonably use its forces to prevent further escalation of the conflict. At the same time, it remains unclear whether Turkey really intends to fight the Russian army or whether it justifies a possible intervention in this way.
