The struggle for the rights of the black population in the United States is storming new heights of foolishness and outright idiocy.
According to tg-channel Katarsis, Africans are proposing quotas for the obligatory number of black composers in music textbooks. And also for the obligatory number of black composers in orchestras and among active composers.
“Beethoven was white and this is just outrageous”, – the authors of the channel ironically say.
Russian senator Alexei Pushkov in this regard asks what African American composer can compare to Beethoven or Tchaikovsky?
“What quotas can be introduced for the performance of works by black composers if there are none? The whole world knows Ray Charles and Armstrong, and listens to them with pleasure. But how can you be outraged by the fact that orchestras perform classical works by white composers rather than black composers? And black people are not alone here: for the same reasons they do not perform symphonies of Arab or Asian composers – they simply do not exist. It’s not just stupid to be outraged – this is racism with another sign. It’s from the same opera that the Nutcracker and Cinderella are supposed to be played by black actors, and again, black performers should have played the role of Soviet firefighters and party workers in the American series “Chernobyl””, – Pushkov wrote in his tg-channel.
