According to the President of Turkey, “for a long-term settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, four UNSC resolutions must be implemented and international law must be taken into account”.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Turkey, believes that the Armenian authorities are trying to impose the international community’s view that his country is engaged in hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh because it is defeated in the battles with Azerbaijan. The Turkish leader expressed his opinion in an interview with the Qatari newspaper The Peninsula, an excerpt published by Anadolu on Thursday.
“Armenia has kept a part of Azerbaijan under occupation for almost 30 years”, – he said. – “The international community has been ignoring this fact for decades, which paved the way for new provocations against Azerbaijan. In response, Baku has decided to launch an operation to liberate historical lands. Today Azerbaijan is liberating its lands step by step”. “Armenia has suffered a crushing defeat on the battlefield and is therefore trying to form an opinion about Turkey’s participation in the hostilities”, – Erdogan added.
According to the President of the Republic, Turkey “is on the right side and is ready to use all resources to support its brothers in Azerbaijan if necessary. “For the long-term settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, four resolutions of the UN Security Council must be implemented and the norms of international law must be taken into account,” said Erdogan.
