Riga recalls its ambassador in “solidarity with EU colleagues”.
Latvia recalls its ambassador from Belarus in solidarity with its EU colleagues. This was announced by Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics on Wednesday.
“As a sign of solidarity with colleagues from the European Union, Latvia is withdrawing the Latvian ambassador to Belarus for consultations”, – he wrote on his Twitter page.
On 5 October, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius announced the withdrawal of his ambassador to Belarus for consultations. This statement was followed by Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau.
It is known that the ambassadors of Poland and Lithuania left Belarus on Monday. On 6 October, a TASS source at the German Foreign Ministry said that German Ambassador to Belarus Manfred Huterer left Minsk for Germany temporarily on Tuesday.
