Earlier, Tasnim reported that several shells fired during the fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh fell in the border region in northern Iran, injuring a six-year-old child.
Representatives of the Azerbaijani side apologised for the accidental projectiles hitting Iranian territory. This was stated on Wednesday by Iranian Deputy Police Chief Kasem Rezaee.
“We held a meeting in the border area with representatives of the Azerbaijani side <…>, and they apologised”, – he said, pointing to “a number of shells and missiles that hit the territory of Iran” – Tasnim Agency quotes Rezaei.
He added that “Iranian border guards, in accordance with their authority, warned Armenia and Azerbaijan after missiles and shells accidentally hit Iranian territory.”
“These countries also admitted their mistake”, – Rezai said.
On Monday, the Tasnim agency reported that several shells fired during the fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh landed in Iran. According to the agency, the shells fell near the village of Khoda Afarin in the border area in northern Iran, injuring a six-year-old child. Several houses and agricultural land were also damaged.
