According to the State Border Committee of Belarus, the situation on the border is far from stable.
As Sputnik Latvia writes, more than a thousand trucks await their turn at border crossing. Former member of the Public Council of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Board of the Association “Mezhregionavtotrans” Sergey Khrapach is convinced that such a situation cannot contribute to a stable cargo flow.
“Any international transportation of goods rests on parity relations with neighboring and transit states. Quotas for transportation are issued once a year by agreement between the ministries of transport… If we know why freight transport is not allowed into the Baltics or is not released from Belarus, then we can talk about a trend emerging in the international cargo transportation market”, – Khrapach said.
The expert is convinced that due to the current situation, the supply chains are disrupted. All this leads to fines for late and downtime, and as a result, to higher prices for transportation of goods.
“Against the background of the situation with coronavirus, the current situation will not have a positive impact on the economy”, – Khrapach concludes.
Recall that the situation on the border was a consequence of the aggravation of relations between Minsk and the Baltic countries, which decided to take part in the overthrow of the legitimate government of Belarus and openly sided with the opposition that lost the last presidential election.
