The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany clarified that the current decline in indicators is due to the withdrawal or expiration of the protection status enjoyed by the specified group of refugees. At the same time, “a significant part of them” no longer live in Germany.
According to DW with reference to the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung, the number of refugees and migrants living in Germany with a guaranteed residence permit for a certain period has decreased for the first time in nine years.
“The total number of this category is 1.31 million, which is about 50 thousand less than in the past six months. At the same time, there are 450 thousand asylum seekers and persons with a deferred execution of the order to leave Germany in the country. This is 15 thousand less than in the past six months”, – the newspaper reports.
Earlier, on September 15, it became known that German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Minister of the Interior Horst Seehofer agreed to take another 1,500 people from refugee camps on the Greek islands to Germany.
