The Americans intend to deploy their new USS Hershel “Woody” Williams expeditionary naval base at Souda Bay in Crete, Greece.
Mike Pompeo, head of the US State Department, told about this during his visit to Greece.
“It is literally an ideal choice against the background of the strategic location of the facility. And it is a symbolic defense partnership that will continue to expand and grow”, – he said.
The ship was commissioned two years ago.
