Merkel: The EU will return to discussing the response to the Navalny incident in a fortnight

The German Chancellor specified that the EU will wait for the opinion of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to be issued.

The European Union will await the opinion of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) on the Alexei Navalny incident and will return to this topic in a fortnight at the EU summit.

“The European Council unanimously condemned the attempted murder and made it clear that the use of chemical weapons was a serious violation of international law”, –  she said.

“We will now wait for the OPCW report and then return to the European Council in a fortnight”, – Merkel said.
