Nikol Pashinyan also called for the suspension of Turkey’s membership in the OSCE Minsk Group.
Armenia is pinning its hopes on the assistance of the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in overcoming the crisis in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the republic Nikol Pashinyan in an interview with the French newspaper Le Figaro, from which the newspaper quotes on Thursday. The full text of the conversation with the Armenian Prime Minister will be published on Friday.
“This is the only negotiating format that exists today”, – he said, speaking of the Minsk Group initiatives. – “The Presidents of Russia and France made a strong appeal. We expect the international community to actively participate in efforts to end the aggression”, – Pashinyan noted at the same time that “at this stage, the opposite side does not show any intention to stop the hostilities.”
The Prime Minister of Armenia called for the simultaneous suspension of Ankara’s membership in the OSCE Minsk Group, created in 1992 to search for ways of a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict. “Turkey’s participation in the Minsk Group should be suspended, as this country is behaving biased and belligerent,” he said. “Therefore, it can no longer be a mediator.”
The prime minister stressed that “Turkey and Azerbaijan should stop armed actions, since they launched an offensive.” “The international community, in particular the American public, should know that the F-16 fighters built in the US are being used to kill Armenians in this conflict,” he said. According to Pashinyan, “Turkey has formed and deployed thousands of mercenaries and terrorists from the zones it occupies in northern Syria.”
