The Latvian Parliament did not recognise Lukashenko as the lawful President of Belarus

The Latvian Parliament has today adopted a statement according to which it does not recognize Alexander Lukashenko as the lawful president of Belarus.

The Seimas believes that the election of the President of Belarus was allegedly “not free and fair” and therefore Latvia does not accept the published results.

Earlier, the Saeima approved a draft resolution calling on the Belarusian authorities to “hold repeat elections”.
