Alexei Pushkov: Imposing “new values” is a new direction in US foreign policy

The process went on: the US Ambassador to Poland, J. Mosbacher, threatened Warsaw with consequences for what the US believes to be the wrong attitude towards sex minorities.

I have already noted that imposing so-called “new values” on other countries will become – and is already becoming – one of the main areas of US foreign policy. This fully fits into the American doctrine of reformatting the world under its own leadership.

The U.S. is already starting to put pressure on its most loyal allies, such as Poland, and its opponents, primarily Russia, are next in line.

This policy is so dangerous, because it introduces another element of confrontation into the relationship, so hypocritical: Washington will not dare to impose its “new values” on Saudi Arabia or Qatar, for it will immediately get a turn from the gate, as it has repeatedly received on the subject of “human rights”. As for Russia, this topic, which has already been used against Moscow to discredit the Sochi Olympics, will soon become one of the main American political and information attacks. Especially if the democratic tandem of Biden Harris wins the election.
