The Estonian government expects Russian leader Vladimir Putin to attend the World Congress of Finno-Ugric Peoples.
This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Baltic Republic, Urmas Reinsalu, in an interview with Kommersant.
“We did invite a number of heads of state, but we did not receive a response from the Russian president to the official invitation. The invitation remains in force for everyone, during the quarantine it was not withdrawn, ” the official said.
He also stressed that he would not mind talking with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.
“Especially now that Estonia is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. If there is such a need, Estonia is always ready for dialogue, ” Reinsalu assured.
