In Greece, Pompeo raised the issue of tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean

Michael Pompeo, head of the American State Department, met with Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendyas in Thessaloniki.

He said this on his Twitter account.

They discussed strengthening bilateral ties and reducing tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean.

“It is always a pleasure to meet with Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dandias. Today in Thessaloniki we discussed the long-term strength of US-Greek relations, the Western Balkans and reducing tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean”, –  Pompeo wrote on the social network.

The diplomats talked for about 50 minutes. The US Secretary of State then went to the Greek Association of Industrialists, where a round table on energy development will be held.

In addition, Pompeo is going to visit the Jewish Museum. There he will meet with David Saltiel, President of the Central Jewish Council in Greece and the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki.

In the evening, he is scheduled to meet with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on the island of Crete.
